Example - Submission of a chemical notification

Self-made hand soap

Vilma sets out to manufacture a cleaning spray and a hand soap.

Regarding the cleaning spray, she must submit a chemical notification to the Chemical Product Register, since the spray is classified as irritating to eyes. The safety data sheet drawn up of the product is valid as chemical notification. No chemical notification is needed on the hand soap, because it is classified as cosmetics.

At the beginning of following year, Tukes sends Vilma an inquiry on the annual amount of cleaning spray manufactured. The chemical notifications are subject to an annual processing fee. If the composition of the spray changes or other changes take place in the spray's product information or Vilma stops manufacturing the spray, Vilma must inform Tukes Chemical Product Register about it.

Importing the paints

Martti begins to import paints from Europe to Finland. Martti receives the safety data sheets of the paints drawn up by the manufacturer and submits them to Tukes Chemical Product Register by e-mail. Thus Martti has fulfilled his obligation concerning submission of chemical information. At the beginning of following year, Tukes asks Martti for provide information on the annual amount of paints he has imported. The chemical notifications are subject to an annual processing fee.
Martti informs Tukes Chemical Product Register if he stops importing the paints or if, for example, the trade name of the paints changes or changes take place in the information regarding the paints.
