Submit the final report
Once your exploration activity is over or your permit expires, prepare a final report to Geotietovirta. This report must include a summary of the overall activities, results, and follow-up measures. The geological part can be compiled from previous annual reports submitted in the service, but the final report must include a summary and, for example, an assessment of the area’s ore potential.
Detailed instructions for the final report are available in Geotietovirta – instructions for reporting exploration and statistics (section 5: Final report).
With the final report, also submit all data related and gathered for the studies as well as a proposal regarding the most representative portion of the drill cores. These must be submitted in six months after the permit expires.
Tukes will request a statement on the decision to archive the drill cores from the Geological Survey of Finland, who will be their caretaker. Read more about the requirements to submit drill cores from the Geological Survey of Finland’s website.
Carry out follow-up measures
As soon as the conditions permit, restore the exploration area to a state that is required by public safety. Also remove temporary structures and equipment from the area. Restore and tidy up the area to an as natural state as possible. Once these measures have been carried out, the exploration permit holder must issue a notification to Tukes, the landowners of the exploration area, and other rightsholders.
Tukes will release the collateral after the permit holder has fulfilled all its obligations
Tukes releases the collateral after the permit holder has fulfilled all its obligations under the Mining Act and the exploration permit. Partial release of the collateral is also possible, if the company only relinquishes a part of the area.
