Combining measuring systems with accessories with national type approval
A Finnish type approval may have been granted separately to the liquid fuel meter and the system’s accessories, such as an automated self-service device, a parallel display device, or price and volume pre-setting mechanisms. The manufacturer’s declaration of conformity with the Measuring Instruments Directive covers the whole measuring system and its accessories.
If new distribution meters compliant with the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive are installed at a liquid fuel distribution station, accessories with national type approval can be connected to the system that complies with the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive, if
- the whole system operates reliably
- The essential parts of the subsystem comply with the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive.
Similarly, an accessory compliant with the requirements of the Measuring Instruments Directive can be connected to a distribution meter with national approval. The manufacturer of the installed equipment is responsible for its compatibility in accordance with the WELMEC guide 8.8 "Guide on the General and Administrative Aspects of the Voluntary System of Modular Evaluation of Measuring instruments".
