Programme and adventure services

In programme services, the customers participate themselves in the activity involved in the service, either independently or with guidance. Programme services include various programme, adventure, experience, nature and exercise services, such as safaris, bouncy castles, bungee jumping or bubble soccer. Most camps, where various activities are organised for the participants, are also considered programme services.

The service provider, such as the company, is responsible for the safety of the programme service.

The primary purpose of programme services is to offer new adventures and experiences, not exercise. Programme services are often provided in connection with other services, such as a part of the programme offered at amusement parks or public events.

Identify the risks

Programme services often include considerable risks, because the participants are deliberately brought into situations that they have never experienced before. Surprises and extreme experiences are an essential part of the service. Despite the suspense and the element of surprise, all stages of the service must be safe. It is important for the provider of the programme service to identify potentially dangerous situations in advance and ensure that the service is safe for both various participant groups as well as outsiders.

Documents in order!

A safety document must be drawn up for most programme services. If the risk caused by the programme service is only minor, a safety document is not necessary. The service providers must identify the risks related to the service and assess the need for a safety document themselves.

More detailed safety instructions can be found in the Tukes Guide ‘Ohjelmapalveluiden turvallisuuden edistäminen’ (in Finnish) on promoting the safety of programme services. Service-specific instructions can also be found on their respective pages.
