19.11.2025 | The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has updated its e-service and register for the refrigeration sector in accordance with the new EU F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573. The e-service is now open for qualification and extension applications that comply with the new Regulation.

8.10.2025 | The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) is updating its electronic services and register to comply with the new EU F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573. Deployment of these updates has been delayed by roughly two months from the original estimate. 27.8.2025 | The application process for operating rights in refrigeration will be reformed in October 2025. The reform applies to both existing and new operators in the refrigeration sector. In the EU's revised F-gas Regulation 2024/573, the qualification requirements for refrigeration have been extended not only to F-gases but also to alternative refrigerants. The current personal qualifications expire on 12 March 2029.

13.12.2024 | Personnel qualifications in refrigeration will become fixed-term as a result of the new EU F-gas Regulation. All currently qualified personnel must renew their qualification by 12 March 2029 at the latest to keep the qualification valid. The renewed qualification is valid for seven years, after which the qualification must be re-applied for. In addition, the qualification requirements will be extended to persons handling hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide and ammonia.

29.2.2024 | 2,260 fires that started from an electrical device or installation were recorded in the Rescue Services’ PRONTO database in 2023. There were fewer fires than in the previous year, in which there were 2,400 fires. Electrical stoves or ovens were the cause of 860 fires, compared to over 900 in the previous year. Stove fires are rarely caused by a fault in the stove itself. Instead, they are caused by carelessness. A total of 13 people lost their lives in eight separate electrical fires.
