Press release

The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) celebrates Finland’s 100 years of independence by publishing a series of articles under the heading turvallisuus100+ (Safety100+).

What does safety enable and what has it enabled – and what are our future prospects? Does safety create competitiveness? How is safety demonstrated in practice in Finnish businesses? The Turvallisuus100+ series includes stories on safety and its value in the 100-year-old Finland. The article series will share good safety practices and examples of possibilities created by safety. It will also discuss the development of legislation and Tukes’s efforts to promote safety.

Targeted at businesses in particular, the Safety100+ series encourages everyone to adopt safe practices and act responsibly today and tomorrow.

- We wish to demonstrate that safety creates additional value and opportunities. Safety is an important foundation for companies’ competitiveness. It’s a good cornerstone on which we Finns can build our future. We here at Tukes want to contribute to this and hold it as a goal of our strategy, says Kimmo Peltonen, Director General of Tukes.

Together with companies and stakeholders

The theme of Finland’s centenary year is “Together”. This theme also underlies Tukes’s Turvallisuus100+ series.

- We invite businesses and our other stakeholders to join us in creating the Safety100+ with us. We happily welcome suggestions and story ideas. Our aim is to make companies and stakeholders visible in the stories, explains Johanna Salomaa-Valkamo, Director of Communications.

Articles will be published throughout 2017. Follow the Safety100+ series on the Tukes website or subscribe to them as a weekly email newsletter. The stories will consist of various elements such as videos, text, photos, information graphics and slideshows.
