17.3.2026 | The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has completed an accident investigation into the explosive fire that took place at Pyrokratia Oy’s fireworks storage area in Janakkala on 5 November 2025. The accident was likely caused by a firework that had been damaged during transport or handling.

The Police and the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) express their concern for the safety of young people’s street race events and moped meets. Such events require an advance permit, and the organiser always needs to notify the Police and have sufficient safety arrangements in place. Taking care of the participants’ and the outsiders’ safety is paramount.

The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has finished its accident investigation of the explosive fire that took place on March 2nd, 2018, at an aerosol filling plant in Sipoo. One person was injured in the accident, and the production facilities and equipment were destroyed. To avoid similar accidents in the future, the investigative team recommends that adequate ventilation is ensured in plants that handle solvents and gases.
