News letter from Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment: The Government proposes to amend the Act on the Market Surveillance of Certain Products. The proposal is related to the national implementation of the EU’s new Market Surveillance Regulation and the Regulation on mutual recognition.

Tukes is initiating cooperation negotiations for all its staff. The reason for the negotiations is the reduced funding for the agency in the state budget. The aim of the negotiations is to bring the agency’s finances into line with the framework for the coming years.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment press release: A report that evaluates the activities, services and implementation of digitalisation projects at the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has been completed. The report includes recommendations for both Tukes and the ministries steering its activities to develop the agency's activities in the future.

The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) is reducing the number of its personnel by approximately 30 after cooperation negotiations. Eight people are being made redundant. At the beginning of the negotiations, it was estimated that the number of personnel would be reduced by 45 at most. The negotiations were initiated due to a cut to Tukes’ operating budget.
